Who runs Mochibayo
Mochibayo is run by Nikola Doychev, Sofia, Bulgaria, who decides how the personal data described here is used (the "controller" under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR). Write to privacy@mochibayo.com about anything on this page.
The short version
- No accounts, no cookies, no ad tracking.
- Your settings and lists stay in your browser.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, and cover images come from AniList.
- One thing asks your permission first: the Google map on the Japan in Sofia page.
Your choices
Your choice is stored in your browser, and changing it needs JavaScript.
When allowed, the map loads by itself and Google receives your IP address. When not, the page lists the places with their links, and the map loads only if you ask for it there.
When you visit
Hosting. Cloudflare hosts Mochibayo. Like any web host, it receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you ask for, to deliver them and to protect the site from attacks. The request logs of our server code, which include these details, are kept for 3 days so we can find errors. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Visit counts. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits for us in total: which pages are read, and roughly from which countries. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not follow you from site to site.
Images. Cover and banner images load from AniList's image servers, so AniList receives your IP address and browser details when your browser fetches them. AniList's privacy policy and terms.
We rely on our legitimate interest in running a working, secure site (GDPR article 6(1)(f)).
What your browser stores
Mochibayo uses no cookies. Some features keep data in your browser's local storage, listed below. It stays on your device unless you move it yourself with a transfer code from Settings, and you can delete it at any time in your browser's settings for this site. Each entry exists only for a feature you use, so none of them asks for permission.

Google Maps
The Japan in Sofia page can show a Google map of its places. The map comes from Google: when it loads, your browser sends Google your IP address and browser details, and Google may store identifiers on your device. So it loads only with your permission (GDPR article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw above at any time; it then stays off from the next page you open. Without the map, every place still links to Google Maps, and Google receives nothing until you follow a link. Google's privacy policy.
Suggestion forms
The forms on the Bulgaria page and on reading guides store what you type: for an event or place, its kind, name, link, date, city and note; for a reading guide, the title, chapter, episode, volume, source and note. They also store the page's language and the time. They do not store your name, e-mail or IP address, so please keep personal details out of the note. We read suggestions to improve the site and delete them after 12 months, or sooner if you ask. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the listings accurate.
Protection against abuse
To stop floods of submissions, the site counts each visitor's requests for 10 minutes. It keeps only a salted fingerprint of your IP address, in memory, and forgets it afterwards. The salt is never saved, so the fingerprint cannot be traced back to you.
Outside the EU
Cloudflare and Google may process data in the United States. Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. AniList's image servers may also be outside the EU.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable form. Where you gave permission, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to privacy@mochibayo.com. As we never ask who you are, we may need a detail to find your data, such as the text and day of a suggestion you sent. You can also complain to Bulgaria's Commission for Personal Data Protection (КЗЛД) or to the authority where you live.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change needs your permission, such as a new service, the banner asks you again.
